Planning permission has been granted for Land Securities to press ahead with a development scheme in the City of London.
The scheme at 30 Old Bailey and 60 Ludgate Hill will see the existing 1960’s building demolished to make way for two separate developments.
The Old Bailey scheme encompasses 195,000 sq ft of office space spread over nine floors. Design is being undertaken by the Sauerbruch Hutton architects firm of Germany.
London-based Fletcher Priest is overseeing design of the 60 Ludgate Hill building. This is to be a mixed-use development with 152,000 sq ft set aside for prime office space, with a further 25,000 sq ft on the ground floor reserved for restaurants and retailers.
Colette O’Shea, head of development of the London portfolio at Land Securities, said: “We were the first to re-start a major development programme after the downturn anticipating supply constrained conditions.”
Land Securities has set a completion date of 2013 for both buildings.
