Construction work has begun on a new office development in High Holborn, to be completed during 2012.
The mixed-use, eight-storey building will house some 67,000 sq ft of office space and 3,000 sq ft of ground floor space set aside for retail.
Located on the site of Chichester House, the new development has been named 28 High Holborn, with the design undertaken by GMW. Marketing is be undertaken jointly by DTZ and Jones Lang LaSalle.
Alexander Knapp UK Project Director at the buildings owner Hines, said: “We are very optimistic about the leasing prospects for 280 High Holborn as we expect it to be completed at a time when Midtown will have very low levels of Class A supply.
“The site is exceptional - it will provide high-quality office space which links High Holborn to the green spaces of Lincoln’s Inn Fields.”
Hines has owned Chichester House since 2007 and secured planning permission to redevelop the site in 2008.
