The Wellington Place office space development in Leeds has been given the go-ahead.

The five-storey building will comprise 110,000 sq ft of office space close to Wellington Street and the Lifting Tower.

A council report dubbed the development a “high quality building” and stated that it will create a “successful backdrop to the listed lifting tower and will visually contain the northern side of the main square at the centre of the Wellington Place development”.

Developers MEPC have also been granted permission to press ahead with a separate building, containing seven storeys of office space and featuring a car park on the basement.

Last month, Flight Centre UK agreed to lease office space at Leeds’ The Gateway development, as it relocates its headquarters from Wellington Street.

The flagship £150 million complex takes in 3,457 sq ft of office space, alongside a car park and hotel.
