Office space in Edinburgh is benefiting from a surge in take-up, a new research report has shown.
According to a study conducted by Jones Lang LaSalle, over the three month period between March and June some 156,000 square feet of office space was leased in the Scottish capital.
This represents an increase of 39 per cent from the first three months of the year, the company calculates.
The improvement in conditions was spurred by a series of large deals, with six leases of over 10,000 square feet taken up during the period.
Ben Reed, director at the property company, was predictability upbeat about the shoots of recovery for the market which was especially hard hit by the economic downturn.
He told the Edinburgh Evening News: “These figures are a welcome boost and it is particularly pleasing to see a spread of activity across the city.”
West Edinburgh was found to be leading the way in the recovery with take up for office space in the area over the first half almost at the same level for the entirety of last year.
