Barclays is combatting the credit crunch with office space saving software that’s helped the high street bank save around 20 percent of it’s grade A Canary Wharf office space.
Barclay’s own research identified that at any one time, almost a fifth of their premium London office space was not being used. This research also showed that as many as a third of the company’s Canary Wharf meeting rooms were empty at any one time.
Given the current economic downturn, the Bank are keen to make savings wherever possible and become super efficient when it comes to saving office space.
The Bank’s new office space saving software organises desk and room management using a shared desk, or hot-desking strategy. Hot desking is a common space and cost reduction strategy that allows several people, who work at different times to share one desk space in the office.
The software used by Barclays is supplied by RNM Systems. With the Condeco room solution, Barclays staff can book meeting rooms and desks in the most efficient way, cutting down on admin costs as well cutting down their office space costs in Canary Wharf.
Andew Howells is part of Barclays facilities arm, he said: “Six months ago we had a static work environment, whereas we now have a more dynamic and flexible work environment to cater for individual staff workspace requirements at any given time.”
