Segro have sealed the biggest occupational deal in the Thames Valley since 2001, having let 210,000 square foot of prime office space at IQ Farnborough to engineering company Fluor.
The letting is also the largest office space deal to be signed in the South East outside of London this year. Construction is dues to start in the new year, with the office space expected to be completed by 2010.
Segro’s UK managing director, Ian Sutcliffe said, “A commitment of this scale under current market conditions demonstrates that IQ Farnborough is a first class site.”
Fluor have signed a pre-let on the Hampshire office space that will become the company’s new UK headquarters. The office space park will consist of four buildings, one to be bought by Fluor, the remaining three to be put on long term leases.
Fluor managing director, Ian Thomas said: “The relocation to IQ Farnborough makes sense for our company and our employees on a number of levels. We will be within a short distance of direct train lines from London which will help us with recruiting. There are amenities close by to serve the needs of our employees and clients like the town centre, hotels, restaurants and day care facilities. Finally, we are expecting to be able to significantly reduce our energy consumption using new systems and technologies.”
