The regeneration of North Dublin’s Ballymun town centre will include around 300 thousand square feet of office space as well as the planned retail space, developers Treasury Holdings reveal.
At the BCSC (British Council of Shopping Centres) conference in Liverpool, the Irish developers announced that following a six-year dispute with Dublin City Council, the pre-planning process for Spring Cross retail and office space scheme has finally come to an end.
The 14.5 acre Spring Cross development will not only hold the huge office space and 650 thousand square feet of retail space but will also be home to and 11-screen cinema, bowling alley and family entertainment centre.
The 6-year negotiations between Treasury Holdings and Dublin City Council over the retail and office space development arose when the two parties could not agree on the payment the council should receive for it’s interest in the site.
The negotiations ended with Treasury Holdings paying almost £50m to the council for the Freehold on the proposed site of the shopping centre, office space and leisure complex.
Ballymun is one of the city’s more deprived areas but is undergoing a massive regeneration project, the new Town Centre is key to this regeneration, with Spring Cross retail and office space development set to become a centre piece of the new plan.
