The end of office blocks, commuting and sitting in traffic could be on the horizon as working from home becomes commonplace by 2033, according to new research.
Microsoft’s experts say that traditional fixed-location workplaces will become oblique as 70% of people say that 21st century working is all about work/life balance.
British firms are leading the way with 22% of British firms currently allowing staff to work from home says Timo Veikkola from The Future Laboratory which helped with the research.
“Old-fashioned spaces will be replaced with green wi-fi spots, and new multi-purpose spaces will be erected which will combine apartments, offices, shops and cafes making the city a much more inspiring landscape to work in.” says James McCarthy, Microsoft Mobility Expert at Microsoft.
