Redevelopment plans for Battersea Power Station, including a 980ft glass chimney that will ventilate 2.5 sq ft of office space, have been laid down by Treasury Holdings.
“We want to create something really impressive that will attract grade-A office occupiers,” said Robert Tincknell the managing director of Treasury Holdings UK.
The development will be run on biofuel created by two of the station’s iconic chimneys. Treasury Holdings, the Irish developers who own the site, aspire to creating the first large-scale carbon-neutral development in an urban area in the UK.
The eco dome/chimney will be the most striking aspect of the development and it will draw warm air out of the office spaces and push cool air in from outside.
A detailed public consultation will begin this week and it is hoped that a planning application will be drafted early next year.
The futuristic development will bring houses, offices, shops and Tube line extension to the South London station.
