More than 3.5 million people in the UK currently work from home according to research by the TUC.
In the past 10 years there has been an increase of 600,000 people working from home office spaces.
Promotions such as ‘National work from home day’ (May 15th) have been integral to this increase additionally widespread availability of flexible communications devices and broadband have influenced this trend also.
Though working from home is a growing trend, it is not an option for a number of workers especially those for whom location is integral to their performance.
Peter Schofield, director of HR and legal services at EEF says “Many professional or office-based workers can work from home but no one ever made a car in their living room”.
