Serviced office space shelters from recession

29th June 2009

office1_webThe average length of stay in serviced office space is up by around 10 percent according to a survey by national serviced office space provider.

The survey, conducted by serviced office space provider Abbey Business Centres, found that the average stay per client has now reached 30 months, which represents an increase of around 10 percent since 2007.

This is a trend being reported across the board in the serviced office space sector, as a report from teh BCA (Business Centres Association), showed that the average stay for office space occupiers signing a three month contract, would run to three years.

Given that serviced office space accounts for around just 3 percent of the total office space market, this an area that many predict will increase in this current economic climate.

Abbey’s Managing Director, Julie Calder said “Leads and inquiries are up on last year and established clients are staying longer either because they like where they are or because they are wary of taking on the responsibilities and commitment of a conventional office lease. The all-in charging structure of serviced offices helps them budget, which is a comfort in these difficult times.”
